Whatever Shall I Wear?
Steampunk is a genre that is open to just about anything. It started in the early 80's as a sub-genre of science fiction, though Jules Verne is said to be the original steampunker. It can be divided into several categories.
- Historical Steampunk
This is usually set in the Victorian Era, at the start of the Industrial Revolution. It can also be set in the Wild West Era, or earlier.
- Alternate Future/Present Steampunk
This is where we imagine that electricity was never invented, and we now run all our machinery and gadgets off of clockwork and steampower. Any electricity will use Nikolai Tesla's Theories, rather than Edison's.
